After listening and viewing the online tutorial for Word 2007, there is no doubt in my mind that it is the best version of Word yet; not to mention the most stylish. Obviously, it takes time to learn all the gadgets and nuances, but it already seems like it will be easy to navigate once you get a handle on it.
The key is of course learning how to work the ins and outs of the Ribbon. The most amzaing aspect of it is that everything is at your fingertips once you learn how to navigate it. It used to be that you either needed to ask for help or read the instructions to perform certain actions on the previous versions. Things are a bit clearer on the Ribbon and easier to access.
Another major change is the new document format called XML. The truth is, it is difficult for me to decide whether I am happy about this or not. Supposedly, this new format increases security, minimizes the file size, and increases protection. I never had too many files or problems with security, so I don't really have too much feeling about this change. The good thing is that you can still use the other file formats in compatibility mode. I don't think it will become too bothersome dealing with the new format.
