1st Assesment: Family History

I do not know much about the person I was named after. My name is Tzvi Dovid and I am named after my grandfather's bother, Baruch Tzvi. Dovid just follows from my english middle name David. It is pretty difficult to communicat with my grandfather these days and he never really talked much about his family or the Holocaust in the past. Baruch Tzvi was murdered by the Nazis in the Holocaust and therefore died sanctifying the name of G-d. I am therefore extremely proud to be named after him, despite the fact that I don't know much about waht kind of person he was.
My grandparent's on my father's side narrowly escaped the Holocaust and came to Brooklyn, New York. My Dad was an only child, but G-d blessed my grandparent's after all their trials with a brilliant and incredible child. He completed college and medical school in just five years and now is one of the top radiologists in the Tri-state area. My grandparent's from my mother's side were both born in America. They had four childeren including my my mother, an extremely hard-working person who finished all four parts of the CPA exam in one shot. I have pretty good role models to look up to. In my immediate family we are five boys, which is a lot of fun. The youngest one (see picture on right) is just six and is extremely cute. I grew up for a few years in Brooklyn, New York until we moved to Englewood, NJ were we temporarily live today. Obviously, we are going to move to a permanent home in Israel as soon as we get the chance.
The brother that is closest to me in age is Jonathan. He is only a year and a half younger than me which is great. He is currently in his first year at YU studying engineering. We learn together in the morning. This is an unbelievable privelege that not many people get the chance to have. Next in line is Alex who is a junior in high school. He is now over six feet tall and is leading the basketball team. Daniel is the second to youngest and is graduating elementary school this year. Aaron the cute youngest brother who just started first grade. He has a lot of expectations to live up to.

September 11th tribute: Where I was

Obviously, September 11th, 2001 was one of those days where it is impossible to forget exactly where you were at the moment you heard the news. I had just started my freshman year in the Frisch school, and was in one of my first gym classes. They had us run the mile outside and I came back up to the school steps huffing and puffing. I was right next to the gym teacher when he received the news and obviously did not grasp the magnitude of what I heard. I figured it was an accident and didn't really understand the insanity of what had happened. The entire day was very surreal and I could not figure out how I should have been feeling because it was unfathomable. It was only when I got home (early) and watched the news that I realized what had happened. We had always heard about terrorist attacks in Israel, but you can never really fathom the scariness of them until one happens fifteen minuts away from your house.

2nd Assignment

After listening and viewing the online tutorial for Word 2007, there is no doubt in my mind that it is the best version of Word yet; not to mention the most stylish. Obviously, it takes time to learn all the gadgets and nuances, but it already seems like it will be easy to navigate once you get a handle on it.
The key is of course learning how to work the ins and outs of the Ribbon. The most amzaing aspect of it is that everything is at your fingertips once you learn how to navigate it. It used to be that you either needed to ask for help or read the instructions to perform certain actions on the previous versions. Things are a bit clearer on the Ribbon and easier to access.
Another major change is the new document format called XML. The truth is, it is difficult for me to decide whether I am happy about this or not. Supposedly, this new format increases security, minimizes the file size, and increases protection. I never had too many files or problems with security, so I don't really have too much feeling about this change. The good thing is that you can still use the other file formats in compatibility mode. I don't think it will become too bothersome dealing with the new format.
